Businesswoman charged under Computer Crimes Act
KUALA LUMPUR: Businesswoman Datuk Gee Siew Yee was charged in a Sessions Court here on Friday with accessing a computer without authorisation two years ago.
Ms Gee, 56, was accused of unauthorised access to a computer belonged to IT manager Brian Periera, 32, with intent to access three files pertaining to Kelab Taman Perdana Diraja (Royal Lake Club) meetings.
The offence was allegedly committed at the club in Taman Perdana here between 8am and 5pm on Sept 29, 2015. She was charged under Section 3(1) of the Computer Crimes Act 1997.
Ms Gee then claimed trial before judge Zaman Mohd Noor, with Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Jazilah Mohd Yushaa proposing bail to be set at RM 8,000.
Gee’s counsel Mr Ramesh Sivakumar, of Goik Ramesh & Loo asked for RM 5,000 bail in one surety, and Judge Zaman set the bail at RM 5,000 in one surety pending mention on May 18.
